Gate terminal in thyristor is accepting only logic signals but not voltages. Looking for Gate driver for thyristor.

Hi.

In PLECS the thyristor that is available in library is accepting only the logical signals at the gate terminal. Since I want to design the "gate driver circuit" for thyristor bridge rectifier, I am looking for thyristor model that can accept the voltage signals at the gate terminal and draws the current into gate from "gate driver circuit".

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks,

Bhavani.

Hello,

Unfortunately, like with all of the standard power semiconductor components in PLECS, the "gate" of the thyristor is an ideal signal port that converts a non-zero input signal to an on-state in the device. PLECS is therefore not appropriate for gate driver circuit design unless you fully customized the switch model with fully physical ports.

Best regards,
Kris
