I am using the “Totem-Pole Bridgeless Boost PFC Converter” demo model that comes with PLECS. The Help that comes with this demo talks about measuring THD and “Distortion Power Factor” but I am rather confused about how to actually do it. It says to use the Scope cursor to measure THD, which I do see. But there is no PF option in the Scope cursor menu.In short: I want to be able to measure the Power Factor (PF) number of the Totem Pole PFC sim.Please help. Thank you.From the help file:From the drop-down menu of the Cursors button select “Delta”, “Min”, “Max” and “THD”. Manually set the Delta value to the inverse of line frequency (1/F). The data table then displays the value for the minimum, maximum, and the THD of the signal between the cursors. The resulting output voltage ripple is 8.1% and the THD of the input current is 5.4%. The distortion power factor associated with the input current is 0.9985. The harmonic order of these waveforms can also be viewed using the ”Fourier spectrum” button at the top of the Scope.
You can find a definition of distortion power factor on page 4 of this application note.
DPF = sqrt(1/(1+THD2)).
You cannot readily calculate this equation directly in the scope, but it is straightforward once you know the THD. If you would like to calculate the DPF in the model, you can add a THD block followed by the relevant formula.
