Questions Regarding PLECS

Hello, I am new user in PLECS
I have few questions:

  1. PLECS provide component losses calculations, where I can find its formulas for switching and conduction losses?
  2. In Switching losses, how can I calculate the reverse recovery of the diode?
  3. How to find switch-on and switch off losses?
    Thank you

You may find everything related to the loss calculation in PLECS in the PLECS Manual. Once PLECS is open go to Help->PLECS Documentation->Thermal modelling.

According to the manual in PLECS Power semiconductors dissipate losses due to their non-ideal nature. These losses can be classified as conduction losses and switching losses. For completeness the blocking losses due to leakage currents need to be mentioned, but they can usually be neglected.

Semiconductor losses are specified by referencing a thermal data sheet in the component parameter Thermal description. Inside the thermal description of each semiconductor component you have the loss definition. They can use lookup tables, formulas, or a combination of the two to calculate the device loss. The method used depends on the choice made by the manufacturer (or whoever made the thermal description), but in general the loss data in the thermal description can be extracted from the datasheet information.
