thermal modelling in saturation region of semiconductor devices

Hi, is it possible to thermally model semiconductor devices in its saturation region where the current is independent on the voltage but the temperature?

Many thanks!

Hello,

Can you make your question more clear, please? What do you mean by “…but the temperature”? Are you familiar with the loss lookup table approach for thermal modeling in PLECS? If not, you will need to provide temperature-dependent loss data for different voltage/current surfaces. Or are you hoping to have electrical behavior dependent on the thermal properties?

Kris

Hi,

I noticed the lookup table for ‘conduction loss’, ‘current’ is X axis, ‘voltage’ is Y axis. Is it possible invert the axis? I means ’ Voltage’ is X axis, current is ‘Y’ axis?

Many thanks!

Hello,

That is not currently possible in PLECS. You would need to manually manipulate your data to more easily copy it into the tables of the Thermal Editor, or if you are using the Graph Import Wizard, you can choose the “Mirror Axes” option to invert the guideline axes, as shown in the bottom-right corner of the attached image.
