Newbie needs some help please for single phase meter

Hey guys,

I´m newbie in Plecs and I want to simulate something. I have found a sample project that I want to convert for my project, but I don`t know how :frowning: . From my point of view the voltage and current of the three phase meter must be connected to somewhere and might be in the subsystem changes are needed ?

I attached the file and I hope somebody could help me please. Many thanks.

Hi and welcome back,

I have made some changes and the simulation is running. I have in Am1 about 6.5 A and the real power must be for R1 and R4 about 2x 6.5 W but in the Scope1 it´s much less. I want to know the total real power (should be all time positive) and the reactive power. Thank you

You are using a three-phase meter in a single phase system. One of the behaviors of PLECS is that both signals and circuits can be vectorized. The signal width can also be inherited. What is happening in your circuit is that the three-phase meter is causing your circuit to have three identical electrical circuits overlayed on top of each other. Then the three-phase meter things it’s a three-phase circuit.

PLECS 5.0 has the option to show signal widths which highlights this very clearly with the “3” icons in the graphic below. This behavior is configured in the PLECS Preferences + Schematic + Vectorization setting

That motivates you to determine an alternate way to calculate the real power. For real power you can just average the product of input voltage and current over time. For other power quality metrics you need a more advanced approach. See the attached model.
