Loss variable limit exceeded

Hi team,
I’m trying to simulate the Phase shift full bridge current doubler topology and it’s switching losses over the plecs software. I have used ‘IMW65R072M1H’ Infineon switch in this topology, however I’m getting the error as ‘The device current (86.8638) is greater than the upper limit specified in the thermal description (26)’. I have here by attached the simulation file and XML file of the switch for your reference. Please suggest the relevant changes.

Thanks, and regards
Saee

The switches thermal description includes a maximum allowable current. If the current through the device exceeds that threshold then an error is asserted by default. Sometimes it is convenient to disable this error to further analyze your model, knowing that you are operating outside of the safe operating area for the device. You can convert the error into a warning in the Simulation + Simulation Parameters + Diagnostics tab, as shown in the attached screenshot.

Disabling the error message I see that the current through the devices is up to 4000 A. This is driven by the parallel capacitance modeling Coss. When the switch closes the energy stored in the capacitor at 400V s discharged through the 0.1 channel resistance, equaling that 4000 A value. The thermal models in PLECS are not compatible with explicitly modeling an external Coss for your switch for this reason. There may be a handful of other issues in the model, but this is the cause of your specific error message.
